The Bomb.com awards
Welcome to the VDC's Bomb.com award show, where all award winners are selected by me, reflecting a unique and personal perspective on standout performances in the apprentice tier.
Overview:
I have seven real awards to give, along with some senior superlative-type stuff. Let's start with the made-up awards, which won't have any explanation, and end with the MVP. There are qualifiers for the 'real' awards, with a rough minimum of 66.67% maps (18.76 is 66%, so I will accept 18 maps).
Yapper of the Year: RoyaLLL
Kingpin of the Year: Kirbs
Clutch Minister: 2Rats
Bomb Bitch: Woots
Headshot Hero: Shaz’s BFF
Always Involved: Ian
Now onto the real awards!
Rookie of the Year: TT | Rayyy
Taken with the 2nd pick in the 2nd round, expectations were high for Rayyy, and although the results were not there Rayyy impressed and did the best he could to carry a miserable TT team on a miracle playoff run. Rayyy led the tier in kills (562), was 2nd in ACS (263.86), 3rd in K/D (1.22), and 2nd in trade kills (104) & deaths (118). To top it all off, he subbed in last minute for TT Expert, securing the team’s spot in the championship game by besting OS on map two with a solid stat line of 13-12-1 in the emergency call-up situation.
Runner-Up: VTX | bạn đưa tôi
Most Improved of the Year: KC | Fray
After their contract lapsed with ATO, Fray went to the draft and was taken with the 6th pick in the 5th round (38th overall). In a tight competition between him and L11 for the sentinel role, Fray ran away with it and has been a huge part of KC on their hopeful championship run. Fray finished the regular season 1st in eco kills(54), 3rd in defensive rating (1.3), T-4th in attacker rating (1.18), and 7th in kills (439). Fray and the team are in the midst of final preparations for a Grand Final berth against LG Red Rose on TBD.
Runner-up: L7 | Ian
6th Man of the Year: PFA | CoachSeering
With an impressive 18 KPG average, 6.5 APG, and an incredible 5th-best ACS in the tier, Coach is the runaway candidate for this award. With 5 more MP than the next closest FA, it’s not even close, and he is a unanimous choice for the award.
Runner-up: FA | imdrag
Defender of the Year: L7 | Ian
Taken with the 3rd pick in the 3rd round, Ian was a massive part of the dominant L7 regular season run. The Ian-led roster finished 19-9 overall with an incredible 57.22 RWP before falling 0-2 to LG in the semi-finals. However, that does not deny the incredible season Ian had, finishing 1st in Defender rating (1.35), 4th in ACS (254.42), 5th in kills (502), and 2nd in KD (1.43).
Runner-up: OS | Spence
Attacker of the Year: OS | Spence
Get ready cause the stats section is going to be long.
The first-round keeper, Spence had a fantastic season, finishing 1st in Attacker rating (1.25), 3rd in Defender rating (1.31), 1st in ACS (269), 2nd in kills (557), 1st in KD (1.44), 1st in KPR (.97), 1st in ADR (186.5), 3rd in eco kills (51), 3rd in trade kills (100), 2nd in first kills (106), and finally 2nd in FKPR (.19). The long time apprentice mainstay has locked up another MVP season, and let's pray to God it’s his last season here.
